Council meeting: the 220 Redbird Lane rezoning is approved

The council approved the Shaddock Homes rezoning at 220 Redbird Lane, the reconstituted P&Z commission's first recommendation. The July 14 minutes were approved on consent. Nothing on the agenda addressed the demand letter.

P&Z meeting: the new commission's first act

The reconstituted commission introduced its new members, elected a new chair mid-cycle, and heard its first rezoning, 220 Redbird Lane (Shaddock Homes). It recommended approval, hours after a demand letter asked it to hold off.

Council meeting: three more P&Z members removed, including the chair

Per the official minutes, a motion to leave the commissions alone failed 2 to 3, and the council then removed three sitting P&Z members mid-term, including the chair, on a 3 to 2 vote. No cause appears anywhere in the minutes.

JUL 7, 2026

P&Z meeting: routine business, one week before the purge

Chair Darla Thornton ran an ordinary meeting with the mayor in the room. Minutes approved 5 to 0, a drainage study approved 5 to 0. Seven days later she and two colleagues were removed without stated cause.

Special session: legal fees on a tie-break, and three P&Z seats swapped

On the mayor's tie-breaking vote, the council approved reimbursing Council Member Fitzgerald's legal fees in the election contest against him. The same night, three P&Z commissioners were replaced.

Council meeting: a walkout breaks quorum

Council Member Griffith moved to table the executive session on "legal representation of a council member in pending civil litigation," was ruled out of order, and left, breaking quorum and ending the meeting.
